Wednesday 7July, saw Peter and Michael Delbridge of www.boatshedhamble.com out to catch a quick glimpse of the racing off Cowes as four of the most beautiful Big Class classic yachts Eleonora, Mariette, Twiga and Mariquita were racing against each other competing to win the inaugural Westward Cup. The Regatta has been organised by three of the most prestigious yacht clubs in the world, the Royal Yacht Squadron (RYS) and two partner clubs, the New York Yacht Club (NYYC) and Yacht Club de Monaco (YCM).

It was that time of the year on most yachties calander, the 79th edition of the Round the Island Race. Saturday 19th 2010 started for Peter Delbridge of Boatshed Hamble aboard "Blustery Day" a 38.5 at 0400hrs and a swift cast off from the RSrnYC pontoon and a motor out of the Hamble and across to the start line of Cowes.

Andrew Sinclair is pleased to announce the launch of his campaign to win the catamaran class in 2011 at the RYA Youth World Championships. Grateful for the financial support he has received from the Royal Southern yacht Club Trust and the agreement by Annette Newton, to name his Spitfire class catamaran, a launch party was organised on Saturday 22nd May on the RSYC pier.
On the best weekend of the year so far, this was the place to be if your interest is in sports boats and Ribs. Finally back at Ocean Village Marina after an absence of three years this show is easy to get too and with free entry, it is very popular.
Ribex 2010 was once again held at Cowes Yacht Haven over the weekend of 7th,8th, 9th of May. This international RIB show was sponsored this year by Suzuki outboards.
Saturday 17th of April dawned on one of the most glorious days of the year so far. The 2010 JOG " Nab Tower Race" was due to start from the Gurnard buoy and the start line from the shore on the Isle of Wight.
Saturday 10th April dawned clear and still for the 2010 King & Queen Pursuit Race. With 25 local boats and crews entered across four different classes this race is always interesting, the monies raised by entry fees and the party later in the day back at the King & Queen pub with charity auction raising money for the Hamble Inshore Lifeboat.

It’s back!!! The Famous King & Queen Pursuit race on 10th April 2010
Steve from Boatshed Falmouth reports that the International 6 Metre class have chosen Falmouth as their venue for their 2010 Open Championship under the auspices of the Royal Cornwall Yacht Club. The racing takes place 20 -23rd May on upwind downwind courses, meaning plenty of tactical racing, picking the wind shifts in the Carrick roads. It’s a 10 race series with up to four races per day.

9 new offshore areas have been granted licences to develop the UK's offshore waters, twith a capacity of just over 32 gigawatts of power, providing up to a quarter of all electricity house hold needs for the UK. Work would start at the earliest 2013 providing the UK economy up to 70,000 new jobs by 2020, worth up to £75 Billion, providing the turbines are manufactured in the UK.
